Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa was the second capital city of Srilanka. Polonnaruwa today is a showcase of the great ancient Srilankan architecture dating back to 12th century AD. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the Mainkings dominate the chronicles of the city are King Vijayabahu, King Parackckramabahu and King Nissankamalla. The city consist of the palace buildings of King parackckramabahu and King Nissankamalla, Lotus pond, Clusters of dozens of dagobas, Temples and various other religious buildings including Thuparamaya, Gal Viharaya and Watadageya.
